About Apex
Owner on every roof.Based in Brookings.
01 · The owner
The person who quotes it is the person who does it.
Apex is run by a roofer who lives in Brookings. He has done many full roof replacements and says roofing is the work he's best at.
He runs the business himself because he wants every job done thoroughly, and done his way. When you book an inspection, he is the one who walks your roof, and he is the one who does the work.
On a small coast where people know each other, that matters.
02 · Why shingles fail
It's mostly about oil.
Asphalt shingles stay flexible because of the oils in them. Sun and time pull those oils out. A dry shingle turns brittle, cracks, and stops holding its granules. Granules are what shield the shingle from the sun, so once they go, the aging speeds up.
03 · What moss adds
Trapped water, lifted edges, rotted wood.
- Moss holds water against the shingle long after the rain stops
- It lifts edges, so wind can get under them
- Over years, that moisture can rot the decking
04 · What the treatment does
It soaks in. A coating just sits on top.
The treatment is a water based emulsion of chemically modified soybean oil, made for asphalt. It penetrates the shingle and replaces the oils that were lost. Your existing shingles stay on the roof, so nothing goes to the landfill.
